How We Calculate Point Values
The basket method
We analyse 12 common redemption scenarios for each program, from economy domestic flights to international business class, hotel nights and gift cards. We then calculate the cents-per-point value for each redemption.
Realistic, not maximum
We use realistic redemption values, not cherry-picked best-case scenarios. The value shown represents what a typical Australian traveller can expect to achieve with moderate flexibility on travel dates.
Cash vs points comparison
Each scenario is compared against the cash price for the same flight or hotel. The points value equals the cash price divided by the points required.
Important: Point values are estimates only. Actual value depends on how and when you redeem. Availability, taxes and fees all affect real-world value. These figures are updated quarterly.
